Incised on one of the paws with the Jade character and 11 (read as the second year of the Kangxi reign). According to the book by Gerald Davidson Marks on Chinese Ceramics Pg. 44 the Jade character was used from the Yuan dynasty into the Qing dynasty. While researching this single character mark I found the following: The largest body of marks found on Kangxi porcelain have one of the following: no marks, pictorial marks, apocryphal marks, , or an auspicious character, such as yu (jade). Com/Kangxi-chinese-porcelain) The detail of this antique Foo Dog is exceptional in every way as seen in the pics.

The turquoise glaze is in excellent condition for its age. The glaze has crackled beautifully, one front and one back paw have a small white spot (pic #10) where the glaze has flaked off (as Kangxi era porcelain is known to do), and there are small spots of glaze retraction and black iron spots from firing as seen in pic #9.

Chinese Foo Dogs are very collectible but finding one like this one made in the Kangxi period is extremely rare! What a great find for the vintage and antique Asian porcelain collector! : Length: 8.2 (21 cm), Height: 5.1 (13).
